The inspiration for this piece is Shelldance Orchid Gardens in Pacifica, CA. This is one of the most magical places I’ve ever been — feels like a fairy garden jungle utopia in there. I tried to capture the juxtaposition of the structured architectural beams with the pure, wild plants that cover every surface. I was drawn to the soft light filtering through the greenhouse glass and the feeling of being completely tucked away in nature. I hope this painting captures a little of the magic.
