Cottonwood

12 x 9”

Oil on canvas board

The Golden Path and Cottonwood are another pair of paintings inspired by Wonderland Lake in Boulder, CO. Another face of my favorite walking spot, this time in autumn. Fall in Colorado is dramatic in the best way — I love how the yellows on the cottonwoods pop.

I started these paintings in October 2024 and put them away for a year before picking them up again. I think if I had started them from scratch now, I might have approached them differently. It’s interesting to witness my process and style changing — as autumn reminds us, we’re all in a constant state of transformation.

Cottonwood is a portrait of a brightly colored cottonwood tree, with the Wonderland Lake path snaking around the bend behind.
